This summer (2026) talkSPORT is the first ever UK commercial radio station to be an official broadcast partner of Commonwealth Games. We helped secure the broadcast rights and put together the multi-medallist team of Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu and Lewis Richardson for Glasgow 2026 live on talkSPORT from 23rd July, in association with BYD. 

Michael Weadock will be joining Ohuruogu in Glasgow for live commentary on all the track and field events. Michael is talkSPORT’s longtime athletics correspondent and will be covering his fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games for the station. John Cushing will be trackside each evening interviewing the medallists as well as updating listeners on talkSPORT throughout the day. 

In 2024, talkSPORT also broadcast full coverage of the Olympic Games in a first for UK commercial radio. We were central to the planning and delivery of everything that was broadcast from the day the deal was announced through to the Closing Ceremony. Digital listening to talkSPORT2 increased by 50% during the Games and the talkSPORT network recorded it’s best Q3 rajar audience figures for five years. In 2025, the talkSPORT Olympics won best Audio Live Event Coverage at the Sports Journalist Association Awards. In 2026, Michael and John covered the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics from Italy.

For more than a decade, Michael has been the station’s correspondent on all things Olympics and Paralympics popping up at any time of the day and night, reporting on the latest saga involving the International Olympic Committee or revealing the latest GB success. At Paris 2024, Michael worked across 12 different sports commentating on athletics, tennis, triathlon, diving and the iconic Opening Ceremony overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

John is a regular contributor to the award-winning Jim White & Simon Jordan show! In Paris, he covered 15 different sports and was the commentator for both Team GB’s first and last medal. This included sport-climbing, weightlifting, cycling and gymnastics amongst many others.

We also cover the British Athletics Championships, Diamond League, World Snooker Championships, the London Marathon, Great North Run and Tour De France.
